Big Restaurant Chain Opens First Panama Location

Popular global steakhouse chain Texas de Brazil Churrascaria has opened its first restaurant in Panama City, in the heart of Punta Pacifica.

The new restaurant, which is the first in Central America for the chain, is located in the high-end Pacific Center, close to all the waterfront skyscrapers in the Punta Pacifica district. In many ways, it is a fine addition to the choice of restaurants in the neighborhood, while providing further evidence that international businesses see the opportunity in Panama City.

In a statement, Salim Asrawi, president and COO, Texas de Brazil Churrascaria, said the chain is looking forward to, “welcoming the many visitors and residents who appreciate this beautiful city’s vibrant atmosphere and to introducing our unique dining experience to all.”

Texas de Brazil has popularized a “rodizio-style dining concept,” which “combines the cuisine and culture of Southern Brazil with the generous hospitality of Texas,” according to the release. The restaurant group now offers 67 locations in 23 U.S. states and eight countries.

The new restaurant features two main entrances “including a striking pedestrian entrance with an adjacent lounge area and a second entrance inside the mall where guests find a large bar and attractive architectural elements,” according to the release. It seats 226 people in a “family-friendly” layout, including an open-view grill in the dining area, a large chef’s table, private dining room, a wine room, and an outdoor patio.

During the main course, flame-roasted meats are prepared by a server who personally grills cuts over natural wood charcoal, a Southern Brazil gaucho tradition. Guests “flip a two-sided disc located at each seat from red to green, gauchos continuously deliver and carve slow-roasted meats tableside to order.”
