Panama Welcomes U.S. Veterans

Panama has always had strong, deep-rooted ties to the United States, primarily stemming from the development of the Panama Canal. The U.S. dollar is still accepted in Panama and many Americans who served in the military here when Panama hosted several U.S. bases.

With that in mind, it’s not surprising that Panama is exceptionally welcoming to U.S. veterans, providing them many of the services they might find at home. Coupled with the benefits of Panama’s world-renowned retirement program, veterans will find living in Panama an easy transition, with access available to many support groups and programs.

Panama Relocation Tours has put together a detailed report on the services and programs available to U.S. veterans, including where they can find help.

In Panama, veterans are covered by the “VA Foreign Medical Program (FMP) in Panama,” the report notes. “These Veterans are eligible for VA-FMP covered medical care and medication prescriptions in Panama at certain locations.” Veterans may also be eligible for free medical and prescriptions in Panama.

The report is a valuable primer for veterans looking for services but also illustrates that Panama is a great place for veterans to retire.
