Six Reasons to Honeymoon in Panama City
Bravo TV has developed an impressive list of romantic reasons for newlyweds to visit Panama City. We see a lot of these lists and travel stories written by writers who fall in love with Panama City, but you have to give Bravo credit—they identified several excellent elements that make Panama standout in the competition for a romantic getaway.
“Let’s get this out of the way: The Panama Canal is, indeed, a marvelous feat of engineering,” Jenny Berg writes. “But — surprise! — there’s more to Panama City than a set of impressive locks.”
That’s been said before, but Bravo goes a step further, making it clear that Panama City is a romantic getaway, not simply a great vacation spot. And the list of reasons shows they know what is happening in Panama City.
The first reason is the availability of direct flights, because who wants to spend hours on a plane for a romantic getaway? Panama City is “a mere three-hour flight from Miami, and also has nonstop flight service from such cities as Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, and New York,” Berg notes.
But the second reason shows Bravo is paying attention—“Luxury Hotels Are Surprisingly Affordable Here.” In fact, after a surge in hotel construction, there is a healthy competition among hotels and prices for rooms are way down, especially compared to other destinations.
In contrast, Bravo’s third reason is the availability of expensive, high-end luxury resorts to rival the best hotels in the world, which is also true. The article cites Villa Bonita, where President Obama once stayed.
Reason number four is, “Casco Viejo Is a Surprisingly Chic Date-Night Setting,” which we all know is true. And number five is, “You’ll Get the Best Vacation Snaps,” which is a tribute to Panama City’s photogenic qualities, especially the new BioMuseo building.
The final reason plays to the idea that many travelers end up going to same, old, boring spots—“You Have the Rest of Your Life to Play it Safe.” And that is one of the best reasons for choosing Panama City. It is different, interesting and engaging on many levels. It’s not just a trip to a beach.
“While you can’t go wrong with a classic like Paris, you have the rest of your life to travel with your spouse,” Berg writes. “And if you fancy something out-of-the-box — something that involves toucans and gigantic dream-catchers — Panama is always a good idea.”
