Popular Hamburger Chain Coming to Panama

Big news for hamburger connoisseurs. Fast-growing U.S. hamburger chain Shake Shack is expanding into Panama, with 12 restaurants planned by 2025.

The first Shake Shack will open in Panama in 2026, offering Shake Shack’s signature offerings – including the ShackBurger and classic crinkle cut fries – “while celebrating local flavors and ingredients,” according to a press release.

While certainly good news for burger lovers, the announcement is another example of the global chains moving into Panama, recognizing the stable economy, international audience, and continued growth opportunities.

The Shake Shack expansion results from a partnership between Shake Shack and Grupo Attie-Multifood Enterprises, a Panamanian conglomerate with operations across Panama, Colombia, Chile, and Mexico. Grupo Attie-Multifood currently operates more than 200 in-stores and 200 stores in Latin America, and specializes in real estate, food and beverage, retail, finance, and online entertainment and gaming.

“We are proud to introduce an internationally recognized brand that shares our dedication to hospitality and quality,” Hector Ospina, Chief Executive Officer at Multifood Enterprises, said in the release. “We look forward to welcoming guests to the shacks we create together, as each one will embody the warmth and authenticity that define Panama.”

Beyond “enriching the country’s dynamic culinary scene,” the collaboration will generate approximately 400 new jobs, fuel economic opportunities, and empower local talent, the company said.
